1st pic of G20 cop in death riot push

THIS is the policeman facing the sack for hitting Ian Tomlinson shortly before his death at the G20 protests.

PC Simon Harwood, 43 - a member of Scotland Yard's Territorial Support Group - was this week told he faces gross misconduct charges at a disciplinary hearing.

The married father of two was filmed in April 2009 hitting Mr Tomlinson, 47, with his baton and pushing him to the ground. The newspaper seller collapsed and died minutes later.

Riot cop PC Harwood was told last week that he would escape criminal charges over the incident.

Crown prosecutors said there was no chance of a conviction as it took too long to investigate the case. Medical experts also disagreed about what exactly caused Mr Tomlinson's death.
