Sea King ... Prince William
PRINCE William's first posting as an RAF search and rescue pilot will be to Anglesey in Wales, it was revealed today.
St James' Palace announced that William will be sent to RAF Valley once he completes his training in September.
Flight Lieutenant Wales, 27, will join 22 Squadron where he will co-pilot a Sea King helicopter and could eventually be promoted to captain.
The Palace said in a statement: "The RAF's decision to post Prince William to RAF Valley was made with the RAF's interest in mind, matching Prince William's skills to the challenges of flying sorties from RAF Valley.
"In particular, search and rescue operations from RAF Valley offer a wide variety of challenging flying over mountainous terrain and hostile seas, supporting both military operations and civilian emergency services across the area."
A normal tour lasts up to three years and pilots at Valley regularly respond to calls from north Wales and Northern Ireland.
Each student on William's course got to make two choices his other choice was RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland.
A Palace spokesman added: "The Prince will go wherever he is asked to deploy in the UK including Northern Ireland."
