Ash cloud hits Wills air training

PRINCE William's helicopter training has been halted by the volcanic ash scare.

RAF officer Wills, 27, is stuck in a classroom studying books because non-essential flying is suspended.

Even the flight simulator at RAF Valley in Anglesey, North Wales, is booked solid.

A source said: "It's really frustrating. If you're learning to fly a helicopter you want to do just that - fly."

Wills has lost hours of flying on his search-and-rescue course.

Qualified aircrews are still answering emergencies because their Sea Kings have sand filters over their air intakes.
