Scandal ... Duchess of York
THE disgraced Duchess of York yesterday blamed her woes on ADULTS - admitting: "I hate grown-ups."
Fergie, 50, spoke out after being devastated by her cash-for-Royal-access scandal.
She said at a kids charity bash: "I learnt today about making a difference. Most importantly I learned I hate grown-ups and I love children.
"When I got on that plane from London, I thought, 'Phew, what a heavy day'."
Fergie has apologised for pocketing £27,000 from a bogus tycoon, in return for access to Prince Andrew.
She met an undercover News of the World reporter in London and took the wad as part of a £500,000 "introduction fee".
Her ex husband Andrew - a UK trade ambassador - has denied any knowledge of the meeting or arrangement.
A pal told yesterday how Fergie is "at her absolute lowest ebb" despite putting on a brave face yesterday.
She feels she has let down her daughters Beatrice, 21, and Eugenie, 20.
The friend said: "She feels bad about everything that's happened, but the worst thing is the feeling that she's embarrassed her daughters.
"She's been in tears to them on the phone but they've both been incredibly supportive.
"She's jet-lagged, confused, in a very fragile state and hasn't got a clue where she goes from here. She really is at her absolute lowest ebb."
The Duchess is reported to have offered to pay back the money and quit the Royal Lodge home she shares with Andy in Windsor Great Park.
Fergie picked up an award for her work with underprivileged kids at the Variety charity bash in Hollywood.
She spent time chatting to Simon Cowell at the dinner in LA. The X Factor boss, 50, received the charity's Humanitarian Award.
The Duchess is due to fly to New York to host an event.
